Many mamas would like to have a drink while breastfeeding and are told they need to pump and dump. Pumping and dumping does not get alcohol out of your breast milk faster and is also a waste. If you don’t feel comfortable feeding baby after drinking use the milk for a bath, lotion or breast milk jewelry. These are great resources to read and make an informed decision about alcohol and breastfeeding. If you do plan on drinking it is not safe to bed-share, so make safe sleeping arrangements if you have been drinking.
