1. Up Your Carbs
- Stick with a moderately low carb diet rather then a strict one.
- I recommend sticking to a goal of about 50-70 grams of carbs a day. And make those complex carbs, like sweet potatoes or veggies, and at least one serving of fruit a day. If you start to notice a dip in your supply, up your carbs goal and monitor your breastmilk output.
- Remember that a normal person without dieting would be eating around 2,000 calories a day and between 225 and 325 Grams of Carbohydrates a day so any cut back will likely help you shed a few pounds.
- Eat at least 1800 calories a day. Remember nursing burns calories.
2. Drink More
- Drink lots of water so you do not dehydrate.
3. Do eat when your hungry but how you eat matters.
- Eat lots of good fats, fiber and vegetables.
- Avoid bread, pasta, and other refined foods.
- Wait until your baby is at least 2 months to start Keto but 6 months is best.
4. Expectations
- Work into the new diet slowly
- 1-2 pounds a week of weight loss is a good amount. Anymore then this and you need to be eating more food.
- Be sure to wait until at least 2 months pp to start any diet but 6 months is ideal.
- Remembee you did not put them his weight on overnight so don’t expect it to fall off overnight either.
