The basics of essential oils while nursing/pregnant

  • Do not ingest oils while pregnant or nursing.
  • Essential Oils Should Be avoided in the first trimester
  • Always dilute your oils (For Pregnancy 6 drops essential oil per 1 oz. of carrier oil) (For Breastfeeding 12 drops essential oil per 1 oz. of carrier oil)
  • Do not add essential oils to the birthing pool as it is dangerous for the newborn.

  • chamomile (German & Roman)
  • clary sage
  • cypress
  • eucalyptus
  • frankincense
  • geranium
  • ginger,
  • grapefruit
  • juniper
  • lavender
  • lemon
  • mandarin
  • majoram (sweet)
  • neroli
  • petitgrain
  • rose
  • sandalwood
  • orange (sweet)
  • tea tree
  • ylang ylang

 

Essential Oils and Children

  • Avoid use of peppermint oil on children under 3
  • Eucalyptus, Rosemary and ravintsara should be avoided for kids under 10.
  • Spike Lavender should be avoided for kids under 6
  • Clove Oil should be avoided for kid  under 2.
